Wales Denies Request for Funding
The Wales Town Board has declined a request from officials of Lothlorien Therapeutic Riding Center on Reiter Road to help the organization with a yearly contribution from the town's general fund, in an apparent shift in policy toward non-profits. The Town Board has annual appropriations to volunteer organizations on a regular basis in the past.
Murder in 1878 Shocked Elma
The most startling event which has occurred in Elma since its settlement was a cold-blooded murder committed on the 2d (sic) day of April, 1878, the historian H. Perry Smith wrote in 1884. Even now, more than 130 years after the events took place, that murder and its aftermath still seem shocking.

Horse Farm Offers New Experiences for Children from Buffalo
The children invited to Lynne Kerr's horse farm on July 16 had a day similar to summer camp: running around, horseback riding, swimming and playing in the open land. For many of the 16 children it was a new experience. The children were current or former clients of Cornerstone Manor, a women and children's center in Buffalo, and had come from difficult backgrounds.
East Aurora Police Honor Fuller for Helping Officer
The East Aurora Police Department offers quarterly awards to those who demonstrate a clear commitment to service and dedication to the community. Usually this award is presented to department employees, but the department recently honored local civilian Gerry Fuller in recognition of his assistance to a police officer on June 24.
